Tabs and Sphere Partner to Make Complex Revenue and Tax Simple, No Matter Where You Grow.

Every new market a business enters brings its own sales tax, VAT, or GST rules. Getting those rules wrong leads to inaccurate filings, blocked invoices, and manual cleanup at month-end. Today we’re announcing our partnership with Sphere, the AI-native tax platform built to automate cross-border tax compliance, so growing businesses can expand with confidence.

Why Tax Compliance Gets Harder as Businesses Expand

Expanding into new countries or states multiplies the work of ensuring accurate billing. Each jurisdiction has its own rates, registration requirements, and filing deadlines, and the tax on an invoice has to match what is ultimately reported. When those systems are stitched together by hand, errors creep in and finance teams spend days reconciling numbers that should already agree.

Sphere calculates sales tax, VAT, and GST in real time using local rates across more than 130 jurisdictions. Paired with Tabs’ contracts, billing, and revenue recognition, the two platforms give finance teams one connected AI-automated workflow instead of a patchwork of tools.

This means that businesses using Tabs + Sphere are able to transform complex revenue and tax into one simple, connected system, so no matter where their business expands as it scales, revenue and tax data stay accurate and ready for the next audit.

Tax Is Calculated When an Invoice Is Created and Confirmed When It Is Sent

When an invoice is generated in Tabs, the platform requests a tax estimate from Sphere so teams can review the expected tax before anything goes to the customer. When the invoice is sent, Sphere calculates tax again and confirms the final amount.

This means the number a customer sees is the number that gets filed. There are no surprises between the draft and the return.

Customers, Exemptions, and Filings Stay in Sync Automatically

Sphere pulls customers, products, invoices, and credit memos from Tabs on a daily basis, along with ad hoc updates when needed. Sphere uses that data to manage tax codes, validate VAT and EIN information, and keep exemption records audit-ready.

Valid exemption certificates maintained in Sphere automatically exclude taxes from applicable invoices, so teams don’t need to set up exemptions a second time in Tabs. Because filings are built from the same data that appears on invoices, month-end reconciliation becomes a review rather than a rebuild.

Address Checks and Product Mapping Catch Problems Before Invoices Go Out

Errors are easier to fix before a customer sees them. Customer addresses are validated against Sphere before an invoice is sent, so an invalid address blocks sending until it’s corrected. Products that don’t have a tax code mapping in Sphere also block sending, and Tabs links you directly to Sphere so you can resolve the issue quickly.

Expanding Globally Without Adding Headcount

For businesses selling internationally, especially into the EU and UK where VAT is central, the goal is to handle compliance without hiring a specialized tax team for every new market. Tabs and Sphere share data at every step of the invoice lifecycle, so the work that used to happen at the end of the month happens automatically throughout the month instead.
