The Challenge: No Clear Path From Billing to Cash

Before Tabs, Raina Music’s finance operations were held together by manual processes and constant workarounds. Saagar Chandiramani, who oversaw almost all of finance, had to navigate a tangled web of Stripe invoices, unpredictable payment cycles, and frustrating check resolution tasks. Most of Raina Music’s clients pay through checks, and their workflow for recording those checks was manual.

“I’d take a picture of each check for documentation, manually sign each one, tally up the amounts, and deposit them. After depositing, I’d send a list of all the checks to our virtual assistant, who would go into each invoice, match it to a check number, and mark it as paid outside of Stripe. That messed up our accounting too, since we’d end up with revenue coming in from another source instead of everything being tracked through Stripe.”

A lack of centralization across the entire contract-to-cash pipeline made even basic revenue recognition difficult. Check payments from hospitality clients meant long hours spent matching checks to invoices and marking payments by hand. Without Tabs, Saagar dealt with the following process bottlenecks:

  • Inability to reliably track contract renewals: Renewal dates often slipped through the cracks, putting customer retention and forecasting at risk.
  • Fragmented revenue recognition: Month-to-month billing and manual recordkeeping made it hard to consistently measure LTV or annual contract value.
  • Manual, error-prone check processing: Every check required hands-on matching, signing, and reconciling, draining hours each week.
  • Hidden Stripe fees and scattered payment tracking: Extra charges piled up, while reconciling payments from different channels created friction.
  • Limited visibility into billing cycles: Saagar couldn’t easily answer basic questions about billing patterns, customer acquisition costs (CAC), or cash flow.
  • Strategic work sidelined by busywork: Time spent on tedious finance tasks meant less focus on growth and client success.

Why Tabs: Purpose-Built for How Finance Really Works

Raina Music began considering Tabs after discovering the platform was designed with the challenges of B2B finance in mind. “I was on either X or Reddit, and someone had posted about the fastest growing startups. As I was looking through, I came across Tabs and my interest peaked,” explained Saagar. “I thought, ‘This looks like this solves some of the reporting and structural issues that we’ve had with Stripe. We could more easily manage payments.’ Then I read that Tabs was using AI for a lot of these processes, so I wanted to know more.”

Automated Contract Ingestion

From the beginning, the platform’s contract-first approach made it easy to shift from scattered, month-to-month billing to a more structured, scalable model. Contracts are now ingested automatically through DocuSign, creating new customer records and triggering the right workflows without manual effort or risk of context loss.

“Contracts get ingested automatically into Tabs, and new customers are created as a result. I get notified when a contract is signed, which is really helpful. Once the new contracts are signed, invoices are generated and I review them once—but after that, I don’t have to think about it again. Everything’s set up automatically, so I always know when renewal dates are coming up and that gets sent to the customer.”

Seamless Payment Portal for Checks

Tabs also solved the headaches of handling check payments. Saagar no longer has to navigate around Stripe’s limitations because Tabs treats checks as an official payment method. With a dedicated collections Kanban board, he can match each check to the right invoice with just a few clicks, mark payments as pending or completed, and keep a clean audit trail for accounting. Features like the notify function provide real-time updates when clients mailed checks, so nothing falls through the cracks.

Centralized Data and Integrations

One of Saagar’s favorite aspects is how Tabs makes supporting documents like W-9s always accessible to clients. The platform lets him store and share key documents alongside contracts and invoices, so teams don’t waste time chasing paperwork or repeatedly answering the same client requests. Integration with QuickBooks keeps everything in sync and provides instant visibility into payment status, renewal dates, and client history.

AI Agents Purpose-Built for Finance

The recently released Tabs Agent stood out as a major differentiator, and Saagar is a self-professed “huge fan.”

“I can easily see what new payments have come in and what’s been paid. Tabs Agent strikes the right balance, giving me enough detail to know exactly what's happening, but never overwhelming me. The information is structured, so I can resolve payments quickly, even while having coffee in the morning.”

Life With Tabs: Turning Payments into More Predictable Revenue

Ultimately, the difference with Tabs was clear: everything felt built for the real world, not a generic workflow. The business impact speaks for itself:

  • 50% reduction in outstanding collections: With stronger cash flow, Raina Music can reduce risk and drive more resilient growth.
  • 25% decrease in time-to-pay: Clients pay faster, with automated workflows ensuring nothing gets overlooked.
  • 75% of new customers moved to annual billing: The shift from monthly to annual contracts has provided more predictable revenue and stronger client relationships.
  • Real-time visibility and reporting: Instead of sifting through CSVs, Saagar can see key business metrics like churn and LTV directly in Tabs.

Tabs transformed Raina Music’s finance operations from a series of workarounds into a well-orchestrated, scalable process. Saagar no longer has to babysit manual steps or chase down details across disconnected systems. Structured contracts and automated billing create predictability. Real-time notifications and easy payment matching freed up hours every week.

“Having a better product UI, actually built for B2B SaaS that runs on contracts, changed everything. With seamless contract setup through DocuSign and AI-driven features like Tabs Agent, one person can handle the whole process efficiently, without being pulled away from day-to-day work.” — Saagar Chandiramani, Director of Music Programming at Raina Music

With everything centralized, Saagar has gained visibility into collections, revenue recognition, and the advanced reporting necessary to make informed, strategic decisions for the company.
